WHY WE STARTED HAVYN HOMES

HAVYN HOMES

We want to create a company that can give back to the community and back to our clients, and support our families to have a life that we enjoy."

There are easier businesses to start than a custom homebuilding company.

A home is complicated. It involves hundreds of decisions, dozens of people, significant financial investment, long timelines, and an enormous amount of trust from the family building it. For our owners Matt Swenson and Jared Maybon, that complexity wasn't a reason to stay away from homebuilding. It was part of the reason to lean into it.

They saw an opportunity to build beautiful, high-quality custom and semi-custom homes in the Treasure Valley. But more than that, they saw an opportunity to build a homebuilding company differently—one that could serve its clients well, support the people working within it, contribute to the community, and still leave room for a good life outside of work.

That idea became Havyn Homes.

Havyn Homes Started With Two Different Strengths

Ask Matt and Jared separately why they wanted to start Havyn Homes, and you'll get two different answers.

Matt came to the idea from the building side. He knew they had the ability and capacity to build really nice homes, but he was also interested in what could happen if the work didn't have to be carried alone. He wanted to build alongside someone whose strengths complemented his own—to share the weight, work together, and find more joy in doing it.

Jared was drawn to something different: the complexity of the homebuilding business itself. He likes solving problems. Building a home requires plenty of that, but building a homebuilding company that runs well presents an entirely different challenge. There are systems, people, schedules, finances, communication, design decisions, and construction details that all have to work together.

Jared saw an opportunity to create a company that could handle that complexity while creating prosperity, enhancing people's lifestyles, and giving back to the community.

The partnership made sense because Matt and Jared didn't need to be the same; their skill sets complemented each other.

In their words, it's a little bit of yin and yang.

Why Start Another Custom Home Builder in the Treasure Valley?

The goal was never simply to add another builder to the list. Havyn Homes was created around a larger question:

What would a homebuilding company look like if it were intentionally built to be good for everyone involved?

That includes the homeowners trusting Havyn with their home. It includes the people designing and building it. It includes the families behind the business. And it extends to the Treasure Valley communities where Havyn builds.

Matt described wanting to create a company that could "give back to the community and back to our clients, and support our families and have a life that we enjoy."

Success wasn't meant to come at the expense of family, relationships, or enjoying the work itself. Havyn Homes was started with the belief that a strong company should create something positive on both sides of the front door. For homeowners, that philosophy matters because the health of a homebuilding company directly affects the experience of building with it.

A Homebuilding Company Designed Around Families

Matt and Jared wanted a company that could support their own families while serving other families well. That means building a business where success isn't measured solely by how many houses can be produced. The company should create prosperity and opportunity, but it should also allow the people behind it to enjoy their lives and their work.

That same perspective influences how Havyn thinks about its clients. A custom home isn't an isolated product. It's the setting where normal life happens. It's where people come home after work. Where kids grow up. Where friends gather. Where quiet Saturday mornings happen. Where holidays, routines, and ordinary Tuesdays all eventually become memories. Understanding that changes the way you think about personalized home design.

The question isn't simply, "What unique features can we put in this house?"

It's also, "How will this family actually live here?"

That distinction is especially important when building a custom home because customization should have a purpose. A home doesn't need to be different simply for the sake of being different. It should be thoughtfully designed around the people who will live in it.

What Does "Building a Homebuilding Company That Runs Right" Mean?

This was one of Jared's clearest motivations for starting Havyn Homes. He was intrigued by the challenge of building a company that runs right. For a homeowner researching custom home builders in Idaho, that may actually be one of the most important things to look for.

Homebuilding is an interconnected process. Design affects pricing. Selections affect scheduling. Construction decisions affect future trades. Communication affects expectations. A decision made early in the process can have consequences months later. The better those pieces work together, the better positioned a builder is to create a predictable and enjoyable experience for its clients.

That doesn't mean custom homebuilding becomes simple. It isn't. It means the builder takes responsibility for managing the complexity rather than passing all of it on to the homeowner.

For Havyn, creating good systems, communicating clearly, and approaching problems thoughtfully aren't separate from craftsmanship. They're part of delivering a quality homebuilding experience.

Why Havyn Homes Exists

Havyn Homes didn't begin with a complicated mission statement. It started with two people who saw an opportunity.

Matt knew they had the ability to build great homes and believed doing it together could create a better, more enjoyable way to work.

Jared saw a complicated industry full of problems worth solving and wanted to build a company that operated well.

Both wanted the business to create prosperity. Both wanted it to benefit their families. Both wanted clients to receive something meaningful from the experience. And both wanted the success of the company to extend into the community around it.

That’s why Havyn Homes exists.

We build custom homes, certainly. But we’re also building the kind of company we want to work for, the kind we’d want our own families to build with, and the kind we believe can leave the Treasure Valley a little better than we found it.

The homes matter. The people who live in them matter. The people who build them matter. And the community we’re building them in matters.

That’s the kind of company we’re building.
